A great teacher is hard to forget — especially one who’s taught you how to help others lead healthier lives. Roxanne Fahrenwald, MD, is just that kind of teacher. New medical residents are taught how to be frontline physicians at the Montana Family Medical Residency Program, the only medical residency program in the state.  As the director of the program at RiverStone Health, Roxanne’s influence is felt across Montana and the nation.

After starting out at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in Chicago, where she earned her MD, Fahrenwald’s career took her north to Alaska, where she was clinical director for the Kotzebue Hospital, then east for a stint as Program Director of the Family Medicine Program at SUNY in Stony Brook, New York, and then west to Billings.  Here she became first the Director of the Montana Family Medicine Residency Program and then Senior Vice President of Clinical and Educational Services.  Fahrenwald oversees the residency program as well as RiverStone Health’s many clinical and educational programs that take place at our ambulatory clinics, the two Billings hospitals and in nursing homes.

Roxanne’s goal has always been to simply "make a difference every day." Becoming an excellent physician and teaching real doctors to help connect patients to better health definitely makes the grade.
