At the core of the RiverStone Health staff is our leadership team, a group of individuals whose vision, innovation and passion have made RiverStone Health a quality provider of primary care and public-health services in southeastern Montana.

Meet our leadership team.

John Felton, MPH, MBA, FACHE, President & Chief Executive Officer, Health Officer.  John joined RiverStone Health in May, 2004.  Prior to joining the organization he spent eight years as CEO of Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center, a non-profit freestanding radiation therapy center; six years as Vice President of Professional Services at a rehabilitation and sub-acute care facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a member of both the Board of Health and Yellowstone Health Partnership Board.  John has earned a Masters degree in Public Health from University of Montana, a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Puget Sound.  John has been a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2000.


Shelli Ritz , CPA, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  Shelli has been with RiverStone Health since May, 2008.  Prior to joining the organization, she worked in a Controller position at Roscoe Steel & Culvert Co. and was a key member of the company’s Continuous Process Improvement Initiative Team.  Shelli also previously held the position of Vice President, Treasurer & Chief Financial Officer of Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center, a non-profit freestanding radiation therapy center, for more than nine years as well as worked with KPMG LLP as an Audit Manager for over eight years.   Additionally Shelli was a member of the Board of Health and the RiverStone Health Clinic Board.  She received her undergraduate degree in Accounting from Montana State University.


Roxanne Fahrenwald , MD, Senior Vice President Education Services, Director of Montana Family Medicine Residency (MFMR) program.  Dr. Fahrenwald joined the staff of RiverStone Health in September, 2005, when MFMR operations transitioned to RiverStone Health; however, Dr. Fahrenwald has been the Director of, and a faculty physician for, the MFMR since August, 1998.  Prior to her arrival in Montana, Dr. Fahrenwald was the Vice Chair and Residency Director in the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Stony Brook, New York for 11 years.  She earned her undergraduate degree in General Studies from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, her Master of Basic Science from the University of Colorado, and her MD from Loyola University–Stritch School of Medicine.  Dr. Fahrenwald completed her Family Practice Residency at North Colorado Medical Center and a Fellowship at the National Institute for Program Director Development in Kansas City, MO.  Dr. Fahrenwald has been a consultant for the American Academy of Family Physicians Residency Program Solutions since 2001, and is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Washington.
 


Daniel Hillman - Vice President - Information Services.   Daniel joined RiverStone Health in February, 2008.  Prior to joining the organization, he worked in a variety of Information Technology positions including: IT Senior Network Consultant for M.A. Polce Consulting in New York; IT Senior Project Manager and IT VPN Manager for Comtech LLC and General Services Administration (GSA) in Washington, DC; and also as a contracted Senior Network and Information Security Manager.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from Syracuse University.  Additionally, Daniel holds numerous software and hardware certifications, including the designations of Blue Coat Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Design Associate. 
 


Judy Stewart, RN, MS, Vice President - Integrated Health Services.  Judy joined RiverStone Health in October, 1987.  She has served in various positions within the organization including Staff Nurse, Supervisor and Program Manager in Home Care and Hospice Services; Program Director of the Community Health Access Program; and Director of Strategic Partnerships.  Prior to joining RiverStone Health Judy worked as a registered nurse at Billings Clinic, at St. Vincent Healthcare (both in Billings), and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Polson, MT.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Montana State University and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Mary.  She is an advocate for the homeless and uninsured populations and has served as Co-Chair / Secretary of the Mayor’s Homelessness Committee and the Governor’s Council on Homelessness.


Nancy Taylor, MBA, Vice President - Clinical Services.  Nancy joined RiverStone Health in May, 2002 and served as the Director of Ambulatory Care until assuming her current position in May, 2008.  Prior to joining the organization, she held executive management positions in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, long-term care and primary care. She earned her undergraduate degree in Health Care Administration from University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire and a Master of Business Administration from University of Montana. 


Deborah Hedrick, MHA, Vice President - Public Health Services.  Debbie joined RiverStone Health in January, 1994.  She has served in various capacities with the organization including Community Health Services Director, Breast and Cervical Health Program Coordinator, Health Educator, and Division Administrative Assistant in the Community Health Center.  Debbie played an integral part in development of the Ryan White Title III Program, AIDS Education and Training Center, HIV Prevention Services, and Maternal Child Health Community Needs Assessment Grant.  Prior to joining RiverStone Health, she and her husband owned and managed a retail clothing store for 10 years.  Debbie earned her undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation and Related Services and Master of Health Administration from Montana State University. 
 


Penny Swanson, GPHR, Vice President - Human Resources.  Penny joined RiverStone Health October, 2010.  Prior to joining the organization she was a Senior Human Resources Business Consultant in Minneapolis, MN at Ecumen Corporation, a non-profit senior housing services provider serving 75 Midwestern state locations with over 5,000 employees.  Penny has also worked as a Regional HR Consultant to Beverly Corporation, the largest for–profit Senior Care Center provider, for more than nine years.  She also has provided contracted Human Resources consulting to Augustana Care Corporation and Courage Center of Minneapolis, MN.  Penny earned her undergraduate degree in Business from Ohio State University.  She is a member of the national Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) as well as a member of Yellowstone County SHRM.
