RiverStone Health provides a coordinated approach to reduce the incidence, morbidity and mortality of cancer through prevention, early detection, treatment, rehabilitation and palliation. Our work in cancer control are made possible in part by a grant from the Montana Comprehensive Cancer Control Section of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. Our cancer control efforts reach not only those in Yellowstone County, but also individuals in Big Horn, Carbon, Stillwater and Treasure counties. The Montana Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan 2006-2010 is the guiding document for our work.
One of our first projects is focused on increasing Colorectal Cancer screening rates in Primary Care Practices. A pilot project at our RiverStone Health Clinic Worden site using a “Primary Care Clinician’s Evidence-Based Toolbox and Guide” by Mona Sarfaty, MD is being conducted in an effort to serve as a benchmark practice to be replicated in other primary care settings.
Anyone interested in Colorectal Cancer Prevention and comprehensive cancer control is welcome to be a part of the local Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition.
All are invited to attend meetings. Please contact Kassi Stabio for time, date and location.
