Four Montanans die everyday from tobacco related diseases.
Our mission in tobacco use prevention is to address the public health crisis that is caused by the use of all forms of commercial tobacco products. Our goal is to reduce disease, disability, and death related to tobacco use by:
- Preventing tobacco use among young people
- Eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke
- Eliminating disparities related to tobacco use and its effects among certain population groups
- Promoting quitting among adults and young people

The Montana Legislature enacted the Clean Indoor Air Act in 2005 to protect Montanans from the health hazards of breathing secondhand tobacco smoke. Learn more about the Clean Indoor Air Act.
People who use the Montana Tobacco Quit Line are 7 to 10 times more likely to quit than those trying to quit on their own. Click here to access more Quit Line information.
